World Heritage Site Todaiji Temple
An ancient city with a long history and culture
Nara was established in 710 as Heijo-kyo, and flourished as Japan's first fully-fledged capital. Home to eight World Heritage sites, including Todai-ji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and Horyuji Temple, Nara still retains its 1,300-year history. It's a fascinating prefecture where history and nature coexist in harmony, with opportunities to interact with the deer in Nara Park and the thousand cherry blossoms of Mount Yoshino.
