About Lithuania

The largest of the three Baltic countries, with the largest old town in Eastern Europe and the beautiful nature of the Amber Coast

Lithuania is the southernmost and largest of the three Baltic states. Its capital, Vilnius, has the largest old town in Eastern Europe, and its beautiful Baroque architecture is registered as a World Heritage Site. The Curonian Spit is a rare natural heritage site of sand dunes, and is also famous as a source of amber. Lithuania is also known for the "human chain" that pioneered the restoration of independence, and was the first country to declare independence from the Soviet Union in 1990. Traditional Lithuanian cuisine and folk crafts are also attractive.
