The origin of humanity, the home of coffee and the mystery of rock-hewn churches
Located in the Horn of Africa, Ethiopia is known as the birthplace of mankind, the birthplace of coffee, and for its unique Christian culture. It is dotted with World Heritage sites, including the Lalibela Rock-Hewn Churches, Lucy Fossil, Simien Mountains National Park, Danakil Mountains, and the Lower Omo River Basin. Its unique culture, including its own Ethiopian Orthodox Church, the Ethiopian calendar (which is seven years behind the Julian calendar), injera (teff pancakes), and coffee ceremonies, are also attractive features.
